Our Humanist Activism

Over the years, members of the Church of Humanism have supported and taken action on behalf of major issues. They have actively and visibly defended humanism, voiced their opposition to capital punishment, demonstrated for animal rights, and provided hearty soup to the less fortunate, even on cold winter nights.

The Church has publicly recognized the vital achievements of various organizations including: the Environmental Defense Fund, PETA, Earth First, Greenpeace, and Rainbo* (against FGM); as well as the significant roles of individuals including: Rev. Daniel Berrigan, Vaclav Havel, Abbie Hoffman, Matt Jones, Dr. Stanley Krippner, Matthew LaClair, Judith Malina and Julian Beck, Chico Mendes, Abie Nathan, Madalyn Murray O’Hair, James Peck, Leonard Peltier, Henry Schwarzschild, Rev. John Shelby Spong, Rev. David D. Van Strien, Mordachai Vanunu, Dell Williams, and (posthumously) Rev. Dana E. Klotzle, Prof. Judah Magnes, and Dr. Wilhelm Reich.

Dear Reader,

None of the materials, books, essays or lectures should be read or accepted uncritically, nor should any one of them be considered an authoritative and dogmatically binding thesis representing a humanist doctrine. We do not want "followers"; or "true believers"; but freethinking partners in a great spiritual enterprise.
